It’s tough at the moment. News full of doom and gloom. Understandable that people are feeling really fed up when they can’t seem to catch a break and can’t see light at the end of the tunnel. Just remember you’re never alone. Stay positive. Be kind. My DMs are always open. 🤝

Whatever the result tonight, don't be a moron. Don't get into a fight. Don't smash stuff up. Don't create more work for our already overstretched emergency services personnel. Stay positive. Stay classy. Be proud. #ENG #ENGCRO #ItsComingHome #WorldCup

You could tell by @GaryLineker's reaction to the winner how passionate he is about England. He's bob on, here. Decent first 45 minutes. England unlucky (because VAR not used well and Lingard missed decent chances) not to be out of sight by half time. Deserved win. Stop moaning P

I prefer a more accurate critique. Excellent first half. Difficult second due to Tunisia, realising they were being overrun & changing to a much more defensive approach. Awful use of VAR, so unlucky not to win by more. And may I remind you that I have 1 more Golden Boot than you.

Yes. What @ProfKarolSikora said. An update on this is vital. Many, many people are still sticking to the rules and they need a chink of light

It's good that shops can reopen in mid-June, but I think millions would love to hear more from the PM on when we can see loved ones. We desperately need to get the economy moving, but getting families & friends back together is equally important, even in a garden!

Give the good professor a follow. I have found his tweets informative and helpful in recent weeks. Like anything, you may not agree with everything he writes - but his sensible observations and positive approach are a real antidote to much of the shrieking bile on here.

Honestly Piers, nobody is happy about this mess - it's a massive distraction. Trust is crucial and you're right, for many that's gone. But whatever people think of Cummings, the rules are there to protect life. We can avoid a second wave, but we have to pull together somehow.

Received some good news on the cancer front today. After a long wait I finally have a date for a crucial scan which will shape my treatment in the coming months. Always seek help, scary as it may be. I totally understand. But don’t hesitate. Stay positive. Be kind. Night all 😊👋🏼

It’s been a really emotional day. A tough week. I’m immensely proud of my team and grateful to the many people who have supported me and The Sentinel/StokeonTrentLive. If you see a local journalist, give them a hug. Value them. They’re all heroes to me.

It’s been a year like no other. I left journalism after three decades. I was given a wonderful opportunity to work with great people at a place I love. And I’m scuffling with cancer again. Thanks for the support. Happy New Year, everyone. Stay positive. Be kind. We got this. 👊🏻
