    Some days New York City is hard. But then there are days when you find yourself on a subway car filled with children singing "We Don't Talk About Bruno." Today was one of those days.

    Last Sunday, I went to Connecticut to interview Stephen Sondheim at his country house. It turned out to be his last major interview.
    In a 90-minute interview on Sunday, Stephen Sondheim was engaged and playfully pugnacious, and gave little indication of being in ill health.

    He's a writer, a composer and an actor. And now he's a bookseller. @Lin_Manuel and three @HamiltonMusical colleagues have purchased New York's @dramabookshop.

    Broadway news: @Lin_Manuel and friends are bringing their improv show, Freestyle Love Supreme, to the Booth Theater for a four-month run starting in September. He will be a producer and occasional performer.

    Terrence McNally, the Tony-Winning playwright whose credits include "Ragtime," "Master Class," "Kiss of the Spider Woman" and "Love! Valour! Compassion!", died today at 81 of coronavirus complications. He was a lung cancer survivor with chronic COPD. nyti.ms/2wqUgtD

    Broadway will remain closed at least through June 7. But because of uncertainty about when large gatherings will be allowed to resume, industry leaders acknowledge the theaters could be shuttered even longer.
