Beautiful animation of metabolic flux in the mitochondrial Kreb (TCA) cycle The three "CO2" coming off the cycle is how you lose weight: carbon from your material body coming off as gas you end up breathing out By @janetiwasa

Since reporting that human hair greying is reversible, linked to life stress, and associated changes in mitochondrial biology, we have received >300 testimonials confirming the observations elifesciences.org/articles/67437 A recent note (shared with permission): "Around the same time

The brain is full of mitochondria! But how many, and where? Different types of mitochondria specialize for energy transformation and other functions In MitoBrainMap v1.0 we provide the first maps of mitochondrial content and OxPhos capacity across the human brain

How we think and talk about mitochondria matters to our science and to newcomers in the field. The powerhouse analogy is expired and we need specific vocabulary to capture the beautiful complexity of mitochondrial biology. We propose a framework and some nomenclature.

Every second, trillions of flowing cells transporting oxygen to your respiring mitochondria The blood is the bridge between breath and flowing electrons in your mitochondria So beautiful !

The mind has a remarkable ability to pattern energy in the body. Psychological states can change blood glucose, alter gene expression in your immune cells, and even increase muscle strength substantially without exercise. I’m excited to be writing about the vestigial and

Human mitochondria connect with each other at a distance through thin membrane protrusions called "nanotunnels" As if they are "reaching out for help". Mitochondria in people with mitochondrial diseases show more nanotunnels in healthy mitochondria do. Below is one of the most

New paper on mitochondrial distribution across the human body If you have more mitochondria than the average person in your heart, does that mean you also have more than average in your brain, muscles, kidneys, etc? We investigated inter-organ correlations in mitochondria 🧵

The cycle of life, every instant, in your mitochondria. The major electron carrier in mitochondria is NAD+. When it collects an electron from the food you eat, NAD+ is converted into NADH. NADH then feeds the electron to the electron transport chain so the electron can flow to
