Our crews have been busy preparing for SR 410/Chinook Pass and SR 123/Cayuse Pass to reopen, clearing snow and making sure the roads are safe to drive. SR 410 and SR 123 are expected to open by 8 a.m. Friday, May 22! Follow @MountRainierNPS and @SnoqualmiePass for updates.

Fact Check: There is no “tremor” occurring at Mt. Rainier. Always check credible sources like USGS and PNSN for information about volcanoes. The station STAR is temporarily impacted by ice buildup causing communication problems resulting in an odd, but non-volcanic signal.

Until further notice, the Carter Falls Trail is closed. The log footbridge over the Nisqually River was dislodged during the weekend, and there is currently no safe way to cross the river. This closure will remain in place until trail crews return in spring.

❄️ A winter storm could bring up to 3 feet of snow this weekend down to 3,000 ft. Mount Rainier National Park will begin nightly gate closures at Longmire at 4 p.m. starting Fri, Oct. 24. The gate will reopen daily to Paradise as conditions allow. Tire chains may be required.

No access to Carbon River & Mowich Lake until further notice while SR165 Carbon River/Fairfax Bridge is closed outside of the park.

The 103-year-old Fairfax Bridge is closed. Inspection revealed new deterioration of steel supports on the structure. Further analysis is planned in the coming weeks. Until those are final, the bridge is closed as a safety precaution. Read the news release: wsdot.wa.gov/about/news/202…
