I don’t want to alarm anyone, but I’ve just been asked in a job interview if I used lockdown “to pursue any passion projects or personal development.”

The market really does want us all to think we’ve just had a generous sabbatical.

It’s never spelled out – and I think it should be – that since 1948, 95% of all casualties in Israel and Palestine have been one side of the conflict. Since October 7, that rises to 98%.

Before about a week ago, I would have thought The Wall was one of the least subtle artworks in existence, but I had not reckoned with the especial density of professional rock critics.
Tweet from music critic Michael Hann: "Jesus. The Wall is not about fascism. It’s about a rock star who comes to hate his fans so much he wants to become a dictator and kill them. It’s based on what Waters thought of his fans by the late 70s."
