    Recent events at #Kashi have elicited widespread interest. James Prinsep in 1827 and AS Altekar in Journal of BHU 1937, give detailed descriptions of the site. The maps here, might help understand the situation. Both mention that the the linga stood in an ornamental reservoir.

    #India in the year 1800, in a British map. Shows territory under the Marathas (in yellow), the British (in pink), green(Awadh) the area of the Nizam, and Tipu's domain until 1799. Save Mumbai, the west coast is entirely under the Marathas. Where is the Mughal territory?

    Having read both volumes of Savarkar by @vikramsampath I would say he is thorough in his research and attribution... The motivation of the three accusing asst professors however, is intriguing. Possibly might b an inability to find a chink in his scholarly work?

    Fine for overspeeding on Mumbai Pune expressway. Driving at 64kmph where the limit was 60 kmph. Why have expressways? Are these Expressway booby traps to finance the highway devp programmes? Is it safe to suddenly brake from 100kmph limit of Expressways to below 60 kmph?

    Tonight after lighting a lamp at 9 pm, go back to 5 April 1663, when Shivaji raja attacked Shaista Khan, Aurangzeb's uncle, who had occupied Pune and lived in the Lal mahal. Shaista Khan lost his son, and some fingers of his right hand, but could manage to run away thro a window.
