    Thanks to the huge efforts of so many, and after some time, we understand Covid-19 better. Though very serious, we see now that it’s not as lethal as once feared. We can and should adopt a more nuanced and targeted strategy & not the hammer of lockdown.

    It’s time to start discussing a Covid strategy that doesn’t involve lockdowns. Our understanding of the risks of Covid versus the damage of lockdown has changed, and our strategy should too.

    So this needs no explanation according to Sinn Fein. Very true. They haven’t changed. They’ve always been a divisive party bred on hate. They don’t represent our country or our people. Especially not today when we celebrate the bonds of friendship across our global community.

    Other EU countries are securing additional vaccines independently, and the EU says we are free to do so. So let’s, as a start, ask Germany & France for the 2m+ AZ vaccines sitting in their hospitals unused. They may say no, and that’s ok, but let’s ask.

    The very best of luck to Housing Minister @DarraghOBrienTD It was a privilege to serve in that position and I know he will have the best interests of all at heart. Good progress has been made but there is much more to do.

    I’ve just signed the order for polling day on the referendum on repealing the 8th amendment to the constitution and allowing the Oireachtas to legislate in this area - polling will take place on Friday the 25th of May.

    Actually the Department and every single LA counts them as additions to the stock - our average long term lease is 20 years. I thought you understood the difference 🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe @lawlessj can help you out again 🙈

    Once again @MurphyEoghan misrepresents his own Departments figures. In 2019 just 8846 social homes were added to the stock (6074 builds & 2772 acquisitions). Long term leases don’t add to the stock, they are the same as HAP & RAS. Subsidised private leases.
