Reminder: NFL players are protesting racial injustice & police brutality (as they should). Not our troops, the Flag, or the National Anthem.

Two years ago today, Elijah McClain was taken off life support. Two years without justice. Officers stopped Elijah while he was walking home, placed him in a chokehold, and paramedics injected him with ketamine. No one has been held accountable. Elijah should still be alive.

    Replying to @NAACP_LDF
"I don’t know of anything in the history of Black people in this country in which I’ve read some account in which it ended with, “and then they gave up.” That’s just not what we do. I know we work for the future of our children and our grandchildren and their children."

"I take great umbrage when members of this body use old, trite states' rights arguments...that were used against Dr. King back then to push against reasonable access to the ballot right now. You cannot remember Dr. King and dismember his legacy at the same time." -@SenatorWarnock

#BREAKING The Senate confirmed Myrna Pérez to serve on the Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. An exceptional voting rights attorney who is intimately familiar with election law, Judge Pérez becomes the only Latina sitting on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court. bit.ly/3jAGZUx

Pamela Moses, a Black woman, has been sentenced to six years in prison because of a voting error. Meanwhile, white individuals who are known to have committed blatant voter fraud have only received probation. There are two criminal justice systems in America.

On this day in 2014, 12 year-old Tamir Rice was fatally shot by a police officer in Cleveland while playing with snowballs and a toy pellet gun. He would have turned 18 this year and been preparing to graduate high-school. This year's election would have been his first. #OTD
