Cutting benefits does not create jobs - it creates poverty. The Labour Party was built to stand with working class people, that has always included the unemployed and disabled. There is no need for a penny in cuts - it's time for a wealth tax, not more austerity!

It's been a year since my constituent John Chapman - a devoted aid worker - was killed by the IDF in Gaza. His family deserves justice. Our government must hold Israel to account for his death and end its complicity in Israel's ongoing genocide.

Ancient woodlands arenโ€™t a blocker. Wildlife isnโ€™t a hindrance. Chalk streams arenโ€™t anti-growth. Our wildlife is on the brink - one in six species faces extinction. These species help define who we are as a nation - we wonโ€™t get a second chance to save them.

Statement on my suspension from the Parliamentary Labour Party.
Green graphic background with white text. Title says statement and the bottom text says working for Poole. The text reads: Since being elected I have consistently spoken up for my constituents on a range of issues, including most recently on cuts to disability benefits. I understood this could come at a cost, but I couldnโ€™t support making disabled people poorer.

Although Iโ€™ve been suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party today, Iโ€™ve been part of the Labour and trade union movement for 40 years and remain as committed as ever to its values.

To my constituents: itโ€™s business as usual. I remain your hardworking local MP, I will continue to take up your concerns and speak up for Poole.

Iโ€™ve signed this Reasoned Amendment to stop the Disability Benefit Cuts Bill. I didnโ€™t become an MP to make disabled people poorer. The Labour Government needs to withdraw the Bill and go back to the drawing board.

We must stop demonising welfare recipients. The idea that disabled people are faking it or struggling families are all potential fraudsters. This logic punishes people for lifeโ€™s challenges - we need a welfare state that helps people back on their feet, not kicks them down.

The Disability Benefit Cuts Bill has been published. On average PIP recipients will lose ยฃ4,500 a year. These are the deepest cuts to disability benefits since George Osborne - impacting 3 million people. This won't create jobs, it will create poverty. MPs must vote against.

The proposed disability benefit cuts are three times the size of those that made Iain Duncan Smith resign. Nearly 2/3s of destitute people have a long-term health condition. The Tories cut benefits to the bone, thereโ€™s no fat to trim. Cuts don't make jobs - they make poverty.

The Government is proposing the largest disability benefit cuts in a generation. This will impact millions - some households will lose up to ยฃ10,000 a year. We should be asking the wealthiest to pay their share - not targeting the poorest. I will vote against this proposal.

I have tabled this motion on the Winter Fuel payment and I am asking other MPs to show their support ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ
A red graphic with white font. Title says "Early Day motion" and at the bottom says "Neil Duncan-Jordan MP, Working for Poole". The motion text is as follows; "That this House is concerned that The Social Fund Winter Fuel Payment Regulations 2024 are being introduced without prior consultation or an impact assessment, nor with sufficient time to put in place a proper and effective take-up campaign for Pension Credit, fails to take account of the modest incomes of those who are just above the entitlement threshold to Pension Credit, and needs to acknowledge the worrying annual excess winter death figures among pensioners, recognising that they were introduced prior to the announcement of a sharp rise in the Energy Price Cap by 10% from 1 October 2024, and will introduce a bureaucratic and unpopular means test which undermines the benefits of universalism when older people have higher energy costs due to comorbidities and finding it harder to retain their heat, alongside many living in h

The Disability Benefit Cuts Bill will unleash a domino effect of hardship for carers. Many are disabled themselves so in future won't get the support they rely on. PIP is a โ€œpassportโ€ to Carerโ€™s Allowance, some families will lose both - around ยฃ9,000 a year. Iโ€™m voting NO.

I've called on the Government to withdraw its proposed disability support cuts. These changes will impact 3 million families - some losing ยฃ12,000 a year. We know this will lead to destitution. No cuts are needed - tax the super-rich instead.

Cutting disability support will push thousands into destitution โ€“ hitting Labour areas hardest. Itโ€™s morally wrong and politically reckless. Polling shows the public overwhelmingly backs wealth taxes over cuts. Those with the broadest shoulders should bear the burden.
