- UPDATE: Last night we responded to reports of juveniles exchanging gunfire on Mayberry Avenue. One arrest has been made, no injuries reported. This remains an active investigation. Violence like this will not be tolerated.
00:00 - Around 6 p.m., officers responded to reports of two subjects shooting at each other on Mayberry Ave. The subjects fled on foot. A perimeter is in place. Four people are detained as we work to determine if others are involved. No injuries reported. Active investigation.
- Both south bound lanes of Sumter Blvd south of I-75 are closed due to a crash. Please avoid the area if possible. Major delays at this time.Roadway is back open.
- Around 8 p.m., officers responded to the 8200 block of Osbert Ave. for a reported gunshot victim. The suspected shooter is detained, and the victim was airlifted with critical injuries. Those involved are known to each other, no threat to the public. More info Monday.
- We had an awesome time at our annual Protect & Serve night at Buffalo Wings & Rings on Wednesday night. A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out, and of course, Wings & Rings! Together, we raised over $2,600 for our Shop with a Cop program & kids in need this holiday season!
- This weekend we reflect & remember Patrolman First Class Dennis Gonthier, ID #130. Though it’s been a decade, he is never forgotten. His memory lives on in the hearts of his brothers & sisters at NPPD, who remember & miss him often. We honor him & keep his family in our thoughts.
- Proud to share that Brittany Kammerer, a member of our Public Information team, has successfully completed the @FBILEEDA Master PIO certification. The advanced program enhances our ability to better communicate, connect, & collab w/ you. Great job, Master PIO Kammerer!
- Currently looking for Alyssa M. Massey (14), last seen this past weekend in the 1300 block of Front Place/Hadley apartment complex. 5'1/130 pounds, black hair, possibly in braids, brown eyes. Last seen wearing a black hoodie. Anyone with info is asked to call 941-429-7300.
- On scene of a traffic crash at Toledo Blade & Price Blvd involving a bucket truck. The truck struck the traffic lights at this intersection, causing lights & wires to break. The entire intersection is closed at this time. Please avoid the area or expect delays.
UPDATE: The intersection is now back open. - NPPD was honored to attend the 178th Law Enforcement graduation of the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy. We are also very proud of graduates Jacob Hensley and Alex Kovalenko, who will be joining our force. We look forward to great things. Congratulations to all!
- No tickets, just candy! Kids “arrested” our hearts with sweet smiles & officers got candy-fied. From ghoul-ish giggles to fang-tastic costumes, Trick or Treat at City Center was un-boo-lievable! Thanks North Port Parks & Rec, you crushed it like a Jawbreaker! 🎃✨
- At approximately 5:30 p.m. Fri evening, NPPD responded to Kirk Park on Trionfo Ave for reports of gunshots & a fight. Those involved had fled the area, leaving behind spent shell casings. Individuals involved have since been located. No injuries. Ongoing investigation.
