I'm going to stand up for the rights of prison officers to work safely & protect national security. I don't care how inconvenient my views are or how overlooked I am as a result. The state and its agents have failed in a basic moral duty. That is worth more than gongs, trust me.

If Lucy Connolly launches civil action claiming she was discriminated against while in prison, all the risk assessments, control measures and decision logs will become disclosable to her legal team. Their existence, non-existence, proportionality will all have to be revealed. 1/2

It's quite clear from the timeline that @Glinner arrest was carefully planned. So this circus was premeditated which means a chain of decisions probably to a senior level. Quite apart from the abject disproportionality, did no-one senior think even for a moment about the optics?

I've led disciplinary investigations in public service. I have provided expert witness testimony on same. I have never seen a more procedurally poisoned witch hunt in 25 years of professional experience.

You can be as clear as you like. The data doesn't care. The vast majority of terrorist prisoners are Islamist extremists. The police and security service both identify Islamist terrorism as the pre-eminent national security threat, not the paramilitary wing of the Methodists.

I've no idea whether this will be happen but features of her treatment alleged in media were so perverse, it's a real possibility. The court will deal with any attempts to obfuscate or cover up robustly. I've seen this in action as an expert witness. Interesting times ahead 2/2

RE: the unlawful release in error of Hadush Kebatu. There are very elaborate processes in place to guarantee the identity & legal status of a prisoner prior to release. These include paper and electronic data as well as visual checks to cross reference. How did all these fail?

19 years ago today, 52 people were murdered in an Islamist terrorist atrocity in London. We remember those lives robbed and the dozens maimed in the blasts. Islamist extremism remains a clear and present danger to the national security of the UK. That did not *change* overnight.
