Mickey Mantle 1956 - While the most common nickname for Mantle was "The Mick", he did go by "The Commerce Comet". Commerce because that was the name of his hometown in Oklahoma, and comet cause he was so damn fast. In his career, he hit 6 inside-the-park home runs, 3 of them

Jackie Robinson leaving Ebbets Field after an epic historic day on April 15, 1947 (74 years ago today) - it was his first game as a Brooklyn Dodger breaking down the color barrier that never should have never existed

Cleveland Municipal Stadium, July 9, 1948 - 42-year old rookie Satchel Paige making his MLB debut for the Indians in the 5th inning vs St Louis Browns. If I ever did a Top 10 list of greatest baseball photos, this one would make it. It's an poignant image that stirs many emotions

Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL, July 14, 1932 - A group of young boys sit perched in a tree trying to catch a glimpse of Cubs pitcher Guy Bush shutting down the Brooklyn Dodgers in a 4-1 win. Fantastic colorization by Imbued with Hues, Facebook page - > facebook.com/imbuedwithhues/

Yankee Stadium, Bronx, 1923 - Been a while since I posted this beauty, perhaps my favorite photo of this ballpark shot right before it would open on April 18, 1923. There is an temporary "Yankee Stadium" banner on front and top right of photo you can see steam from a locomotive

Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, Sept 2, 1963 - A Sandy Koufax pitch is lost in the crowd and brilliantly captured by legendary photographer Neil Leifer. Koufax would strike out 13 Houston batters to notch his 21st win of the season, arguably his finest year ever, in Dodgers 7-3 win

Happy Birthday to Hammerin' Hank who turns 85 today. In this photo taken in 1951, a 17-year-old Hank Aaron is about to leave home to play with Negro League Indianapolis Clowns. During his short stint there (26 games) he hit .366, belted 5 HRs, knocked in 33 runs and stole 9 bases
