These are the zoning changes that City of Yes opponents called an "extinction event"
Low-Rise Buildings Get a Little Taller
Corner store
Subway station
Under the new zoning code, this building could add up to four stories because of its proximity to transit and location on a
commercial strip

Imagine if the areas around train stations in New York’s suburbs—in Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties—looked like this instead of giant parking lots

NY is not for everyone. Stop building to accommodate those who can’t afford to live here.

There is no housing shortage. Millennials just don't get to live in their first choice neighborhood and need to get the h*ll over it.

This was before the 1961 downzoning, which capped the number of homes in the city, drove up housing costs, and caused NYC to lose political power.

NEW: The OneLIC plan has been approved by the @NYCCouncil Zoning Committee!!! This will bring over 14,000 new homes — including over 4,000 permanently affordable — to a transit-accessible area of Long Island City. This is NYC's largest neighborhood rezoning in decades.

It’s really happening: 135 E.57th St is a large office building that’s been mostly vacant since the pandemic. And now it is going to be converted to housing—350 units, including affordable. 4+ million sq. ft. of conversions are now underway in Manhattan. Let’s keep this going.
