The fact that the first one was so successful already ruins your facetious claim. Cinema history's track record of female protagonists also proves your obvious strawman argument wrong, too. Writing proper female protagonists is a uniquely modern issue within media & entertainment - It's not "bending the knee". It's simply acknowledging that LGBTQ+ people exist.
