"D&D Movie has Scheduling Problems, Will Try Next Month" Okay, now that's a power move to prove you understand the IP.

Early in my career, a wise elder told me to settle on my "Fuck You Rate." This was an amount of money so high, that if I had given this rate in reply to an offer, rather than saying "Fuck You," and the client met it, I'd be so thrilled at the money I wouldn't mind. 1/2

Some notes on the Fuck You Rate: 1. Don't compromise on it. Getting 50% or 90% of it isn't enough. 2. Don't defend it. It's the rate for you for this project, period. 3. Do not explain it's a Fuck You Rate. 4. Revise it. You are worth more this year than you were last year.

I have had my Fuck You rate met a few times over 25 years, and never regretted it. (I have also just said Fuck You, often more politely, when a project was something I had ethical issues with. Money isn't everything.) 2/2

One of the creepiest roleplaying moments I've even seen was when my wife was playing a necromancer priest. The party had seen her kill, curse, and animate, but not heal. So when she loomed over a wounded ally after a fight, saying "Your death... give it to me..." we freaked. 1/2

Once, at Gen Con, I swung by a booth carrying books of mine on consignment. One of the booth workers saw me pause, and asked if I liked Pathfinder (1e, at the time). I confirmed I did, and they began pitching me my books. Did a great job. The booth owner then came over. (1/x)

I've never been so proud for Rogue Genius Games to be included in such company... in a meme!

My wife's necromancer hooked her fingers in the ally's spirit, and lifting out the deadly parts within it as a gray mist, which she breathed in. Healing them. To her character, wounds were a step closer to glorious death & healing was her taking that deathliness for herself. 2/2

Well, sure. Me neither. My "Fuck You Rate" is a good chunk lower than that.

Once I was sure they knew I was happy and impressed with them, I asked them what *other* products they thought I might like from the booth. Ended up buying stuff I didn't expect to. A good booth worker is worth their weight in gold. make sure they know it. (4/4, fini)

I told the booth worker *I* was sorry for letting them pitch when I wasn't going to buy, but I was just so mesmerized by how great a job they were doing I didn't think to stop them. Then I enthusiastically thanked them for doing such a great job describing the product. (3/x)
