During our successfully conducted visit today to Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, who was arrested in December 2024 and remains incarcerated in Israel, a serious and alarming picture emerged.

- Today, on behalf of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya’s family, we filed an urgent request with the Israeli military for information on his current whereabouts. The director of Kamal Adwan #Hospital was abducted on Friday after refusing to leave until every last patient was evacuated.
- The number of #Palestinians in Israeli custody has doubled since October 7, reaching 10,000 detainees and #prisoners. According to reports arriving from Israeli prisons and testimonies from recently released detainees, the Israel Prison Service is abusing Palestinians.
- Since the ceasefire, Israel has rejected or ignored over 90% of requests for exit permits from Gazan patients seeking urgent medical care including cancer patients. Only 13 out of 191 were approved. Today we petitioned the Supreme Court to immediately overturn this policy.
- The Israeli military refuses to allow Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, to meet with a lawyer to evaluate his state and detention conditions. Despite our urgent requests to send an attorney, the military says he's barred from lawyer visits until 10.01.2025.
