Higher-quality screenshots of the Space World 1997 build of Super Mario RPG 2 (Paper Mario 64). This is the earliest known build of the game and the character designs were significantly different from the final game. Scrapped characters like Poochy and Nep-Enut also appear.

This is quite possibly one of the earliest pieces of concept art for Super Mario RPG 2 (which would eventually become Paper Mario 64) which was posted earlier by the original SMRPG's character designer, Kazuyuki Kurashima.

[TTYD Remake Spoilers] A concept art gallery image in the Paper Mario TTYD remake shows what appears to be an early build of the game. The sprites were planned to use the same style as CS and TOK with the art style being closer to CS in general.

Concept art from the remake of Paper Mario TTYD Remake shows potential early designs for the Battle Master including various Toads (including ones with facial hair) as well as a Koopa Troopa, Goomba, and a Boo wearing cowboy outfits that resemble the ones from the wanted posters.

In the Paper Mario TTYD Remake, interestingly, there are unused graphics of the unused badges from the original version of the game.

Early concepts of Vivian, Marilyn, and Beldam from Paper Mario TTYD. One of the more finalized drawings matches Vivian's early in-game design with the flame and shows that Marilyn and Beldam also had elemental-themed tips of their hats to match their abilities.

More images of the early TTYD-remake art style, despite using the Color Splash/Origami King sprite-style, the textures are very similar to the original version of TTYD as this was likely early in development.

Early concepts for Hooktail from Paper Mario TTYD. According to the date on the sketches, Hooktail was designed around late 2002.

In the concept art of the Paper Mario TTYD Remake, in the Shadow Queen room specifically, Mario has a similar design to his PM64-styled early TTYD design that was found in the files of the original game. Interestingly, his proportions are closer to his final design.
