    As expected, Mr. #LopezObrador announced today that he will not be attending the #SummitoftheAmericas. He will likely not be missed, but will align #Mexico with three small, impoverished dictatorships: #Cuba, #Venezuela, and #Nicaragua, against Mexico's own interests.

    Mexico's government's trying to lure #Tesla's new plant away from #Monterrey and into the #StateofMexico (a political move in an election season). It does so by asking #CFE to deny power to Tesla in MTY to muscle it away from NL. That's what the arbitrary use of power looks like.

    President @Claudiashein of #Mexico is nearing one year in office. Thus far, she's got nothing to show for it. And she won't if she continues to think that her job is to continue the disastrous policies of the #AMLO administration, especially because things are about to get worse.

    In #Mexico: It is becoming increasingly clear that #MORENA, likely orchestrated from the very presidency of the country, carried out massive #electoralfraud and, what is worse, it did so with the acquiescence of the @INEMexico. It is the least free and fair election since 1988.

    The disorganization, chaos and disarray in the #contramarcha called for by #LopezObrador in support of himself contrasts with the spontaneous organization, order and harmony of those that showed up to defend the #INE on 13Nov, without anyone forcing them to attend. There's hope.

    #LopezObrador has said that he won't seek the removal of the #AttorneyGeneral Mr Gertz because his violations of the law are not "that serious." That is so wrong at so many levels, but it indicates that for the president the law is optional. #Mexico's #RuleOfLaw is broken...

    #Mexico's president, @Claudiashein, is angry with the media for coverage of the killing of a #Michoacán mayor, Carlos Manzo, by organized crime. Her government doesn't know how to be accountable for its dereliction & insists in blaming coverage for a failing #security strategy.

    We had already warned that the #LopezObrador administration was more than willing to unleash the administrative powers of the state against his critics and rivals. This morning's revelation of #Loret's presumed income is the worst instance of this so far.

    The Mexican #Senate's apparent endorsement of government officials openly campaigning in an electoral exercise is an example of how Mexico's #democracy is being #undermined by president #LopezObrador, his #Morena party, and the so-called #4T. #Mexico's #democracy is #backsliding.

    Apparently, #Mexico Supreme Court Justice @YasminEsquivel_ , who aspires to be Chief Justice, #plagiarized her law thesis. These practices are common. And they merit nothing short of resignation. It also places the #UNAM in a tough position, as it will have to decide what to do.

    Today, #MexicoCity's subway, once more, suffered a terrible #accident. Its #deterioration is a symbol of the mistaken priorities of the federal government and the #neglect by the Mexico City government. It is also a symbol of how Mexico's #infrastructure's failing under the #4T.

    The #MORENA mayor of #Tijuana BC, Mexico, made a less than fortunate statement to the media. She invited #organizedcrime to go directly after those who do not pay them the ransom or extortion demanded, and leave the rest of the citizens who do pay their ransom or extortion alone.

    I just listened to @XochitlGalvez's speech during the May 19 #MareaRosa rally in #MexicoCity's #Zocalo. It was an extraordinary speech, unmatched by any candidate so far. It's worth a listen. It lays out the alternative to the #Mexico of today with stunning eloquence.
