#Truthcommission from 2014 to “investigate #atrocities from 1885..., to 2008, when a stalled peace deal to end the civil war was fully implemented...it has mapped more than 4,000 mass graves..and identified more than 142,000 victims of violence.” #Burundi

U.S Comm on Intl Religious Freedom holds hearings on #citizenship laws in #India & #Myanmar. These connections will increasingly be made. Glad to see @AmanWadud testifying - speaking with him some months ago about the Assam #NRC was eye opening and absolutely horrifying. #CAA

Completely agree with @ICJ_org assessment: Likelihood of #CrimesAgainstHumanity in #Myanmar, should be investigated independently + #IIMM role + call for full referral to the International Criminal Court #ICC by the #UNSC, which meets tomorrow. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

Many legal issues to still understand, but seems like an illegal act in 1992 has been sanctified and rewarded by the #supremecourtofindia judgment, despite calling it a violation? Another nail in the coffin of #Ruleoflaw in India?

UN special rapporteur on #Myanmar: #UNSC needs to step up u/chapter VII, & must be an International Criminal Court referral. [The situation currently under investigation at the #ICC is not a UNSC referral, relates to crimes with a linkage to Bangladesh as basis of jurisdiction]

As the junta ratchets up its brutal attacks against peaceful protesters in Myanmar, the world must ratchet up its response. Words of condemnation are welcome but insufficient. We must act. I'm releasing a statement today w options for UN member states & the UN Security Council.

So. It’s come to our notice @opiniojuris that submissions from women seem to be down, commensurate to the trend in academia. We’d like to change this - so if you can write & want to brainstorm, please DM me and I’d be happy to chat. #covid #writing #internationallaw
