I’m Professor Robert Howard, a clinical academic psychiatrist in London. I’m calling for the immediate release of Dr Hassam Abu Safiya and all other medical and allied health professionals from Gaza currently detained by Israeli forces.

My name is Dr. Neena Jha. I am a family doctor. I am calling for the immediate release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya. He was abducted by the Israeli forces. I am calling for protection of hospitals and medical workers in Gaza. And an end to the genocide. #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya

Asked to see a man with AD and psychosis in care home this morning. Felt awkward in PPE and apologised for having to speak to him with a face mask. “You don’t look like a doctor” “Sorry about that. I am. What do I look like?” “A schoolteacher who thinks he is robbing a bank”

Psychiatrists. Unless you examined Lucy Letby as part of her trial, you have no idea what is wrong with her or why she committed her crimes. The comments and "explanations" in the media are unhelpful and cheapen us.

In my year at my College. Famous for his direct chat up line with girls at Cambridge’s only nightclub. He claimed it was successful 20% of the time but the rest of the time resulted in a face slapping. Now, leads a country. These are extraordinary times.

Looking for a version of the MoCA that can be administered over the phone and was reminded of the Impossible MoCA, which is always fun to give to anxious colleagues. "Just a standard test I give to all my patients".

I feel extremely proud of our College and that it has been so clear about the dangers of this poorly designed Bill. The RCPsych does not have a position on assisted dying. However, it does have a position on potential legislation that is highly dangerous for vulnerable people.

📢 The Royal College of Psychiatrists have said they want "nothing whatever to do with" assisted suicide, according to Baroness Butler-Sloss. The vast majority of people do not want to see this dangerous Bill become law. The Lords has a duty to reject the Bill outright.

Really disappointing to see antipsychiatry “campaigners” engaging in the harassment of an individual who is sufficiently brave to be open about his mental health difficulties and treatment to help others. This is what stigmatisation looks like and it is ugly.

Just out - our minocycline in AD trial. I was completely gutted when this turned out negative, despite good animal model data and a plausible mechanism. But, we took it on the chin and I like to think the paper is a model of how to report a negative trial.

Just reviewed the loveliest man with severe dementia. “I’m aware that I don’t make sense to people, but I do the best that I can”.

I’m extremely proud of my colleagues who have given evidence to parliament and the RCPsych for explaining so clearly why psychiatrists cannot support the provisions of the dangerously flawed assisted dying bill.

🔥HUGE MOMENT! The Royal College of Psychiatrists doubles down on opposition to the assisted suicide Bill. “WE COULD NOT SUPPORT THE BILL”. Leadbeater wants psychiatrists on her death panels, but the Royal College wants nothing to do with it. The Bill is surely now unworkable.

Every day, it seems, progressively out of touch millionaire doctors wheel out from their mansions or escape from Jurassic Park to lecture those who are currently doing the job about what they should expect for doing the job.

A is absolutely the correct response. That it is considered not to be, tells you everything you need to know about what has gone wrong with the way we treat trainees. I feel ashamed of what my generation has allowed to happen.

Many of us involved in the care and treatment of people with dementia are among the most vociferous opponents of the proposed legislation. We can absolutely see the dangers of this.

What is odd about the Assisted Dying discussion is the silence around the biggest killer of older people, dementia. Because it is impossible for someone with dementia to give informed consent. But it is also impossible, or very difficult, for them to give consent before their
