Look out for this new symbol in shops and businesses. It means staff have been trained in how to interact with people who have difficulties communicating. @RCSLT is behind the initiative, and its president @Nick_Hewer of Countdown and Apprentice fame, spoke to 5 News about it.

Today @RCSLT & partner organisations are launching the Communication Access Symbol & e-learning for businesses. This will improve support for 14-million people in the UK with communication difficulties: bit.ly/3lpNl7Z @Nick_Hewer @SkiptonBS_press @skiptonbs
The communication access symbol is a blue square. Inside the square is the outline of two white heads which are facing each other. There are clockwise arrows, one above and one below the heads showing that communication is a two way process. Both heads have ears, eyes and a mouth showing that listening, looking, understanding and speech are all important in communication access.
