Juneteenth commemorates the day the last enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, marking the final chapter of slavery in the United States. Today is a day to reflect on our history and recommit ourselves to the work of building a more perfect union.

Trump is reversing his plans to dismantle ocean monitoring systems that support Rhode Island’s fishing industry after my colleagues & I fought back. I will continue to fight back against cuts to ocean science that endanger Rhode Island’s economy and way of life.

I was honored to congratulate some of our newest Rhode Islanders and American citizens at today’s naturalization ceremony in Providence. Immigration has always been part of our nation’s story and our identity.  Today’s ceremony was a powerful reminder of that tradition.

It was great to join veterans for lunch today at the Rhode Island Office of Veterans Services Café. We can never fully repay the debt we owe to those who served our country, but we can honor their service by supporting them and their families long after their service ends.

Health insurance costs in Rhode Island could increase by double digits AGAIN. This is not happening by accident.

President Trump made 3,600 stock trades totaling between $212 and $695 MILLION in the first three months of 2026. I have 190 House Members supporting my bill to ban stock trading by the President and Congress. We need to get to 218. Keep the pressure on!

Rhode Island was the first state to declare independence from Britain - a bold act that helped ignite the Revolution. It is only fitting that our time capsule item serves as a reminder of the pivotal role we played in achieving that independence.

Parks are the living rooms of our neighborhoods. Today, I joined the groundbreaking for the new riverfront greenway along Kinsley Ave. and Promenade St. in Providence. I’ll keep working to bring home funding for projects just like this.

ICE has no businesses keeping a database of American citizens who have committed no crimes. But that is exactly what is happening.
