    Make what you will of @PierrePoilievre's answer to my Qs today, but -- at least he agreed to do an interview with local media while on the Island. I've asked @JustinTrudeau to do an interview w/ @CHEK_News on every one of his many Island visits and the PMO answer is always: No.

    .@Dave_Eby says he has cancelled his family’s trip to Disneyland - despite paying $1,000 in ride tickets prior to the tariffs - because he wants to follow through on his suggestion people avoid holiday travel to the US where possibility. Admits move was unpopular with his kids.

    NEW - @Dave_Eby expands BC liquor ban to ALL American liquor, not just red state alcohol. Policy now mirrors that of other provinces. Says with Trump so obsessed with Canadian water now, he can keep his watery beer.

    NEW - @Dave_Eby says B.C. has changed its nurse recruitment rules to get US-based nurses accredited in BC within days, vs up to 4 months. Since then, he says applications from US-trained nurses up 127% with 117 applications.

    Yes, China is implementing crippling tariffs on Canada's $5b canola exports. And yes, the same to its $1.1b seafood sector. And yes it may also be interfering in Canada elections, and arming our enemies abroad, and using forced/child labour. BUT. Damn, it builds cheap ferries.

    NEW - @JohnRustad4BC announces a plan to let British Columbians deduct up to $3,000 per month for mortgage and rent payments from their income tax, paying less taxes and potentially generating rebates. Cost: $3.5b. Calls it one of the most significant tax relief ever given.

    Was just in interview w/ @jjhorgan in his #bcleg office when a phone rang on his desk. Premier says that line has never rang before. Multiple staffers converge on mysterious ringing direct line to the premier. Someone answers it and: It's a fake Canada Revenue Agency scam caller.

    NEW - @JohnRustad4BC says he'd restore letter grades for Grades 4-9, as part of edu policy. Reinstate standardized exams for Grades 10-12. Restore school liaison officers (heads up, Greater Vic school district). And restore direct autism funding. Also, these social policies:

    For voters who tuned into this debate to hear the difference between @MarkJCarney and @PierrePoilievre on who should form the next government, it is likely very, very frustrating to have @theJagmeetSingh heckling and interrupting and talking over them again and again and again.

    Some personal news: I’m resigning from @VancouverSun. Excited to announce I’ll be joining @CHEK_News to kickstart a new political journalist position in mid-January. I grew up watching CHEK, and couldn’t be more thrilled to join its truly independent newsroom.
