I was once invited to speak at McKinsey. I started by asking, “how many of you have ever started or run your own business?” No one put their hands up. I then announced the name of my presention, “Anything is easy when you don’t have to do it”.
I’ve not been invited back.

- Replying to @BaddielI don’t know if this helps, but when my Mum died, we took a kitchen tile, a square of the curtains and carpet, the house number my dad made and turned it into a piece that hangs in my house now. A piece of where I’m from geographically, biologically and emotionally. .
- When someone films bats upside down and it looks like they’re having the best night of their lives at a goth nightclub.
00:00 - If Apple don’t turn this into a Mac vs PC ad, then I give up.
- Stuart. I don’t know what to say other than I am so, so sorry. It’s impossible for me to comprehend what you are going through. But if a stranger listening can help, I’m happy to be that stranger. Biggest hugs.
- A brand asked me to help them. Procurement emailed, "your fee is higher than other partners we use, please lower it". I responded, "your products are higher priced than others I could buy, please lower it". They respond, "we accept your rate, look forward to working with you".
- I pop out of a meeting to get a notepad. I come back to be told by a very senior member of NIKE that my 5 year old came in, did an impromptu naked bum dance at the screen, then ran out giggling. To top it off, they said, "and your son is still more professional than you". Pah.
- Today a very successful music manager told me how he sees his role. “I’m paid to tell my bands the truth. They may not like it. They may choose to ignore it. But they will hear it. Sugarcoating is a sign of weakness not partnership.” Ad agencies. Take note.
- Dear brands. This is the time you do stuff. Not say stuff. Do. But don’t worry, because if you do it with integrity and generosity, it will speak for you in ways your media budget could never pull off.
- Why is @adage attempting to normalise drug use to give people a greater work/life balance of calm versus challenging clients & agency to change their ways so employees have a naturally calmer work/life balance. The industry media should not be advocating toxic complicity. Fucked.
- When some lovely fool on LinkedIn has your tweet made into a t-shirt.
- Replying to @ClifforddDavid and @snowdedMy argument was slightly different. More about how the lightbulb wasn’t created by people who only see value in optimising a candle. Kinda. Haha.
