I would go as far as to say Gay probably would not have been hired if she didn't say these things. Gay's statements merely reflect #DEI and critical race theory premises that are the current vogue in academia.

At this point, there are so many questions about her, the better part of valor is to try to exit gracefully. She doesn't appear to have the skills to recover.

Given the investigations, probable lawsuits, high-level of journalistic interest, and difficulty raising money (other than from Dubai and other foreign sources, which will be closely watched, she can no longer lead. Every day will be a misery.
