Brilliant petition and campaign by @ChefTomKerridge - please sign and share. Doing lots of cross-party work on this as our hospitality industry is drowning and needs *urgent* action from @hmtreasury. Reduce the highest VAT in EU please @RachelReevesMP.

.@BirthTrauma is doing a survey (completely anonymous). Please take a few minutes to fill it in, or share if you can. Data on birth trauma/maternity experiences is not routinely gathered by health trusts so this will really help those of us working on it. us10.list-manage.com/survey?u=55e9e…

We are profoundly sorry for the pain, trauma and stigma experienced - and still carried - by many people because of historical adoption practices in homes affiliated to the Church of England.

Today, the Church of England apologises for its role in Historical Adoption Practices, particularly in mother and baby homes in the postwar decades. We know this is upsetting news and support is available. You can find out more about today's apology at cofe.io/Adoption.
    APOLOGY FOR HISTORICAL ADOPTION PRACTICES

The Church of England has apologised for its role in historical adoption practices, particularly in mother and baby homes.
Mothers and adoptees who came into contact with these homes have described the profound and lasting impact of these experiences.
Published alongside new research into these homes, the apology recognises the impact on people affected and sets out the Church’s commitment to listening, learning and responding with honesty and compassion.
    THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY APOLOGISES

"We are profoundly sorry for the pain, trauma and stigma experienced - and still carried - by many people because of historical adoption practices in homes affiliated to the Church of England. Today, we say to each of you: the shame you were made to feel was wrong. You have nothing to be ashamed of. The shame was ours."

    SUPPORT AND RESOURCES AVAILABLE

If you need to talk to someone, support is available. The independent Safe Spaces service offers confidential listening and support for those who are finding that today's news raises difficult feelings. You can contact Safe Spaces, and find the other support available, on the Church of England website.
You can also find resources for those looking into their past, including government guidance on accessing adoption records and tracing family history.
Find all the the resources and support at
cofe.io/Adoption.

Apparently objecting to the glorification of mastectomy makes us "right-wing", ladies. Interesting. Because breast cancer apparently does not discriminate by politics. Perhaps some of us simply find the removal of healthy body parts concerning. Particularly when imagery

Utterly fed up with this lie, promoted by campaigners since the start. In 2024 a lot of MPs were brand new but they've seen dozens and dozens of bills since then. There is no excuse for this utter misleading tosh, and it takes other MPs for fools.

🀬🀬Lauren Edwards misleads Press Association: "we (MPs) will have the opportunity to have a final vote on [the Bill] in the usual way once it returns from the Lords.” MPs do NOT get to vote on ANY Bill as a whole that returns from the Lords, only specific amendments.
