A member of the executive staff at Ole Miss, Lauren Stokes, shared a post last night essentially arguing that Charlie Kirk got what was coming to him. It’s caused an uproar in and out of Mississippi after this viral tweet connected the dots.

I just got off the phone with a business owner in Mississippi. He’s pumped millions into a business distributing a product he imports from China. His contract with the company prevents him from manufacturing it in the U.S.
He also has contracts with a number of large retailers
A field director for Congressman @BennieGThompson (who headed the Jan. 6th Commission & recently proposed legislation to remove Trump’s Secret Service detail), wishing Trump’s assassin had better aim on social media.
Fourteen years ago today, I signed the Affordable Care Act into law.
Afterwards, one Republican member of the House called the ACA the “most dangerous piece of legislation ever passed in Congress.” Another predicted the country would “never recover from it.”

Now let’s do some math. According to the interweb, Wal-Mart imports $49 billion of product a year just from China. At a 30% tariff rate that’s nearly $15 billion of “eating.” Wal-Mart’s net profit last year was $15.5 billion. And that’s just one country’s worth.
Set aside the fact that this is an admission that other countries don’t pay the tariffs. Even if Wal-Mart “eats” the new tax, it has a negative economic effect. Fewer jobs, lower salaries, less capital expenditure, lower returns.
Imagine you went into the doctor and he amputated your hand for no good reason. But then he re-attached your hand.
Would you be thankful or stuck on why he cut it off in the first place? That’s how I feel about U.S. trade strategy right now.
The U.S. Supreme Court decides far more cases 9-0 than 6-3 or 5-4. The Court is actually the only branch remotely close to its constitutional purpose.
And people are trying to undermine it. Why? Because it's the only real check on government power left.
The next time someone tells you about the horrors of a pipeline, show them this map of our existing pipeline infrastructure. Then ask them if they'd prefer to live like the Amish.
