Just your neighborhood Dockmaster taking a serious, quasi-historical, (mostly) sober look at some of the famous ships and other such things from science fiction
Just, y'know, floating around

I got full marks in English from 6th grade on. I never did course work, I just read books. Primarily Discworld. I would fill out a book report form for each book.

Remember when Neil deGrasse Tyson told the world that BB-8 couldn't operate in sand, and ILM politely informed him that the droid was a practical effect (i.e. they built one and drove it around... in the sand)? That was awesome.

Neil deGrasse Tyson critiques thumpers and sandworms in 'DUNE: PART TWO'. "You can't thump sand, if you do this to sand [slams fist] nobody else is gonna hear it... they have the worm going straight fast, no that's not how physics work they gotta curl" Source: @colbertlateshow

The funniest part of the nerds freaking out about this entirely innocuous and pointless post, is that they can’t help but show *their* version of “cool fantasy” is just the lamest, most tired headass dumb shit imaginable.

That picture looks like it could be straight out of a 90's computer game, that has been updated with HD graphics. just needs little green bars over the vehicles and people's heads.

It's amazing how many sophonts consider things like Quarry Junction to be "bad game design". There was a whole subthread on my joke post about the "shortcut" in New Vegas a few rotations ago about how open world games shouldn't do that and it was all dumb. Designers have to

You really have to wonder what's going on with the current, male, humie psyche that it would actually enjoy being strapped into a literal rocket-propelled coffin and launched at a planet... to engage in grievous warfare against either Lovecraftian or Cameronian nightmares.

Ok, serious talk - just for the giggles (wait) - for a moment. I know about 99. He was intentionally kept around to see how the Jango Fett clones would age. I know about the Bad Batch. They were deliberate mutations to see how far the genome could be pushed. I know about

It's even better than that. According to deleted scenes, Jack actually used to work for the EITC... up until they had him carry a freight of slaves. He absconded with the cargo and released them, then was sunk by EITC privateers, leading to his debt with Davey Jones.
