- BREAKING: Come January, a trans woman will walk into the capitol built by Jefferson to take her seat in the Virginia legislature. Danica Roem will raise her right hand, swear an oath, and, will become the first out trans person to be elected to and serve in a state legislature.
- I received this email from a man who enthusiastically voted for Donald Trump, but who happened to pick up my book. Sometimes I wonder whether it is still possible to speak across the political divide. Today is not one of those days. #TomorrowWillBeDifferent
- We did it. We won the general election. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

- Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness.
- A president can't single-handedly save the economy, but we're seeing in real time how a president can single-handedly make it worse and to do so quickly.
- What does my identity have to do with the fact that Trump is trying to rig our elections? Nothing —unless you’re as obsessed with identity politics as the right wing. Also, I said what I said. 💁♀️💅
- Replying to @SarahEMcBrideI hope tonight shows an LGBTQ kid that our democracy is big enough for them, too.
