This was always bigger than one arena or one neighborhood. We celebrate that Chinatown is safe for now, but nobody’s home is safe as long as billionaire developers are planning our city and politicians are playing their game.

CHINATOWN ♥️s YOU BACK. Last night 800+ Philadelphians turned up in mass & stood in line for hours, representing the 69% of Philly voters who do not want an arena built in Center City. We packed not one, not two, but THREE rooms. And we did it on less than 72 hours notice.

Compromise can lead to meaningful progress. I worked tirelessly to include meaningful amendments to the proposed Sixers arena package and introduced a bill today to establish a Community Land Trust to protect Chinatown from unchecked development. My statements below.

Almost 60 years ago, the Vine St. Expressway was announced. The highway was part of a wave of "urban renewal" projects that drove highways through communities of color across the country. Today it's clear that was a mistake. #SaveChinatown🧵

The Sixers-bankrolled impact studies on #76Place are here. There are a lot of dubious numbers and projections in these studies, but the community impact study can’t hide the obvious: An arena would decimate Chinatown. #SaveChinatown
