While on a lecture tour in Japan, I was able to divert to Hokkaido for a few days to ski their world-class powder snow. I've been skiing since I was six years old, and Niseko and Kiroro did not disappoint!

In @CellCellPress, I share a major conceptual challenge for biology in the next decade, inspired by Crick’s Central Dogma: understanding information flow in the cell, the smallest indivisible unit of life bit.ly/4hQMmva

Excited to share a new study in @nature led by @Wenfei_Sun and in collaboration with Thomas Sudhof’s lab that maps a memory engram. It shows the interplay of neurons and astrocytes in long-term memory formation. Congrats to the team for this work. bit.ly/3SyEUt3

Virtual cell models have the potential to transform biological research. Today @ChanZuckerberg released an initial set of models, including scGenePT and SubCell, designed to be easy to run and build upon. This is a really exciting time in biology.

"It may seem ridiculously naïve to characterize something with the complexity & intricacy of a cell as a ‘bag of RNA’. I will argue that in fact it is a powerful & productive abstraction that is helping revolutionize our understanding of cell biology." loom.ly/tXlvMF8

The Tabula Sapiens maps nearly 500,000 cells from 24 tissues and organs. A great accomplishment for #singlecell biology in redefining how we understand human biology. Congrats team, @czbiohub. @ScienceMagazine

One of my hobbies outside of my work in science is reading. Here are a few of the top books I read last year. What were some of your favorite books you read in 2022?
