Listening to @EamonRyan on @SaturdayRTE deflect and evade questions of travel quarantine. A year into the pandemic. On an island. How can anyone expect the @greenparty_ie to lead on difficult climate change policies when they won't take science seriously even in a pandemic?

Today is the worst death toll of the pandemic and @DonnellyStephen is offering no serious strategy to prevent introduction of new variants. The proposed quarantine measures are a charade that can't succeed, and everyone knows it. #TonightVMTV #WeCanBeZero

An evasive interview from @MichealMartinTD on @RTE_PrimeTime. . When a surge of infections happens for a 3rd time, it stops being 'unprecedented', and we start being simply 'unprepared'. A strategy that relies solely on vaccines is not a strategy. March 5th, what then? #rtept

If @LeoVaradkar wants to discuss Perth, let's compare: Perth: 2021: 1 case, 0 deaths, 5 days of lockdown - & mostly normal life around it. Ireland 2021: >100,000 cases, >1,000 deaths, 2 - 3 months of lockdown, then hoping for Level 3 restrictions 🤔 #WeCanBeZero

Alternative perspective: we are severely restricting 4.9 million people within a 5 km radius, partly because government is unwilling to enact adequate quarantine restrictions on a few thousand travellers.

Pre Covid 560K people would have traveled during same period. We continue to demonise small number of people 7K who have negative tests before they travel and on return and will isolate anyway. If we continue this demonisation we won’t have an airline industry left post covid

Please publicly recognise that COVID is airborne. Recommend FFP2/KN95 mask wearing in public. Ask all employers & state organisations to review air hygiene in their buildings. Encourage greater use of antigen testing (& provide guidelines). Anything less is ignoring the science.

Has the government been too slow to introduce mandatory hotel quarantining for people arriving in Ireland? We asked one thousand adults on our @AmarachResearch Smartphone Panel, and here's what they said: #cblive

It has been 8 weeks since December 26th, and we have 9 more weeks of tight restrictions according to @MichealMartinTD. Since we are clearly in a 4+ month lockdown anyway, is there any reason not to aim for #ZeroCovid?

We are literally weeks away from vaccinating children in Ireland, yet the policy is to allow them to be infected with Omicron. We need FFP2 masks, HEPA filters in all classrooms, testing in all schools, and staggered school reopening until child vaccination complete in February.

However, given the very high and rising incidence of COVID-19 across all age groups in the community, it is inevitable that children will pick up this infection from household contacts in the days and weeks ahead.

Ireland now has 2 week mandatory hotel quarantine in place for travelers originating from a list of 33 countries. But, there are exemptions for 8 different classes of traveler - including politicians. Or, you can just change planes in London.... 🤷‍♂️ gov.ie/en/publication…

We don't owe our kids a thank you, we owe them an apology. We have ignored the science at almost every turn. Now we're heading into our 4th bout of restrictions due to lack of preventive planning & action. We have everything we need to do better. #COVIDisAirborne #VaccinesPlus

Friends & colleagues in the USA are vaccinating their children. In continental Europe, they're protecting their children in schools - with masks, air hygiene, and serial testing. In Ireland & the UK, we're just letting them get infected & ignoring the science of risk to kids.
