Unfortunately, it looks like a repeat of 2014, where the rape kit bill WAS NOT FUNDED. I guess getting #RapeKits tested within 30 days, once again, is not a priority for the state of Tennessee. Another sad day for our state. To the family of Eliza Fletcher, I am truly sorry.

Thank God! Today, I was able to pass a bill out of the criminal full committee requiring TBI to test #rapekits within 30 days of receiving them. Tgis is something that should've been done back in 2014. Had we passed this bill in 2014 #ElizaFletcher would still be here with us.

I've struggled with what to say about the Orange Mound mass shooting. It is expected for us to make a statement when these things happen. And...I'm still struggling with making a statement because I am truly at a loss for words. If we use fiery words like, "they will be brought

HB 7071 Changes the definition of a mass shooting to be 4 people in a public place, excluding gang shootings, residences, and others. The federal government says 3 people = mass shooting. This will skew the numbers to make it seem like there are less mass shootings in Tennessee
