UPDATING BLUE'S INTRO SHEET BECAUSE @/dossolesholiday MADE CUSTOM SKILL ICONS FOR HIM! ART IS AGAIN DONE BY THE WONDERFUL @/moth_jam! LOOK AT THIS SILLY GUY
genuinely extremely grim that a guy battling depression, and how it ended, can so easily be co-opted by the worst people online as just "he was an incel." stuff like feeling ugly, wanting to feel desired, and struggling to keep friends is very universal. it's not an incel thing
like jesus christ everything from "this is the reality of being an incel" to "he died cause he couldn't get a gf" are such insane takes that they kind of perfectly capture why men experience the most standard anxieties and then just spiral out of control. there is NO support here
i dont want to make assumptions, but I've seen dudes struggling with these same anxieties get the advice of either "you just need to find a girl" or "why are you being such a pussy?" and this is reason #1842 as to why i hate all gender expectations. they are always bad!!!
patriarchy is bad as well, of course. constantly trying to cram men's mental health struggles and anxieties through the lens of how women are ultimately responsible for them is not a bug, it's a feature! you want miserable men cause they can SUPER easily blame and hate all women!
I woke up and the last thing I want to add is that the separation of "being depressed" and "being an incel" as identifiers is important because while incels do have depression, most of their communities do little to actually help with that struggle, and tend to bask in it
Everything I've seen from incels is typically them suffering from very common and mostly valid social anxieties that then get amplified by the communities cultish love for misery. Often reinforcing the same gender essentialism that spawned the original problems. Which is bad...
I would simply not like a world where Jim going "I wish I had a gf" gets conflated with someone who believes in shit like "sexual market value" or that "Chad and Stacy" is ultimately to blame. Incel stuff comes from understandable anxieties, but can quickly get fucking WILD
a lot of people genuinely look at depression as a kind of "skill issue" that you can easily fix if you just follow the right checklist instead of the wildly complex and complicated struggle that it is.
