    Please can we talk about people dying and being very sick, not “pressure on the NHS”. Talk about resilience and exhaustion among staff of course. This is not about protect the NHS, it is about protecting your nan, your neighbour, and your nephew....

    Daily Mail goes big on long ED waits. *Apparently* is due to a lack of GP appts. But fewer people went to ED in April 2022 than April 2019. So big wait-time deterioration ain’t walk in led. And is squat to do with primary care crisis, where appt-seen volumes are rising (30m+)

    (Last) thought for the day: you cannot fight inequalities by doing the NHS thing better. Until we are prepared to shift the spend (yes into housing, schools and work) we will carry on talking to ourselves about “gaps” or “pressure” #publichealthstudent #bethechange #brave

    Best news! We have Govt. permission to close a deal with Balfour Beatty to build out the stalled Midland Met Hospital; a chance to sort out acute care services locally and make the move to Outstanding care @SWBHnhs #getMMHdone

    So many emails from folk inside Trust, many of which say “I know I am only an x”. Everyone @SWBHnhs matters. Seniority, tenure, job title is not (and never was) important. What matters is you, the care you give each other and our patients. Never apologise for voicing fears 1/3

    Over 250 colleagues across @SWBHnhs presently being re-trained or updated to be ready to staff a 4 times bigger ITU and the 140 extra beds we’ve opened. Need to be ready next week. Huge task. Very proud in tough, chaotic times.

    Not easy out there tonight. No one we look after is a number and matching need to staffing, staffing to kit, skills to teams, and finding emotional balance is not a simple juggle. Saw calmness, tears and compassion. So so important to get our 1000 colleagues back soon @SWBHnhs
