Reforming the SEND system is urgent and essential and we need to work in partnership with parents and across the sector to do this well. I am pleased to have been asked to lead this group and to make a contribution to this important work.

Freddie’s coming to the end of Y11. He didn’t sit any GCSEs or go to a prom this week but did enjoy a walk in the country park this morning. #agoodlife

Ways the DfE could reduce my workload: 1) Stop creating different funds that I have to spend days applying for when I could be doing real work. 2) Stop cancelling the above funds after I've spent days applying to them. 3) Fund schools properly in the first place.

For the avoidance of all doubt, children with Down’s syndrome don’t ‘suffer’ and Freddie has brought so much happiness and richness into our lives and to our friends and family. #DownSyndrome

13 years ago, we had the biggest delivery room surprise when Freddie arrived with an extra chromosome! Have learnt so much from this beautiful boy since then. Tonight we celebrated by taking him out for a curry with his family and friends. #Downsyndrome #legend #teenager

    2. Freddie trying his uniform on for the first time. ❤️ If you look closely, you’ll see his mum in the background, in typical fashion, supporting him to be able to do what every other child gets to do.

My Dad retires today after 42 years as a secondary Music teacher. If I make a difference to half the lives he has I'll be happy. #legend

    1. *School Leadership Research Thread* 11 years ago, an influential article was published making '7 strong claims about successful school leadership' (Leithwood, Day, Sammons, Harris & Hopkins, 2008). This was a significant paper & has been heavily cited in the years since.

This is Ellen (6). She couldn’t love school more. In the evenings she delivers classes to her teddies or imaginary children. For Christmas, she is obsessed about getting a pack of (black) chisel-tip whiteboard pens. It’s literally all she wants.

Dad with our kids before his last day in the classroom. He retired from teaching (again) today (for at least the 4th time), 44 years after qualifying. He’s taught music to thousands and thousands in Northants and beyond. Proud of the way he went about it. 🎶
