After Gov. Cox’s crack about San Francisco, I did a bit of research. Property crime and violent crime rates are higher in Salt Lake City than San Francisco. Maybe we need to work closer to home.

- With regards to the terrible chants at Arizona last night, I wonder how folks might feel if words such as Jew, Black or Gay were substituted for Mormon. Discrimination is wrong at any level. For the record, I’m a practicing Catholic.
- As a practicing Catholic with an LDS wife, I actually get a lot out of conference talks. I also enjoy the LDS folks I follow sharing speeches. There is commonality among religions. I found it interesting the Pope's encyclical today visited many of those universal themes.
- Replying to @SenSandersSo in good conscience are you willing to have the U.S. default on its debt. It’s easy to have principles when you don’t rely on a Social Security check each month.
- Can we take a moment to thank our teachers for their heroic work during the pandemic? Many have become sick. Some have to absorb new students. Moving from in class to online is hard work. Teachers deserve our thanks and support.
- I don't say this lightly. I'll match my knowledge of Utah with anyone. But I've never been more embarrassed to be a Utahn or, for that matter, an American. A good part of our population has lost its grip on reality. It's awful.Replying to @LeiaLarsenThe @SLCo_Council voted on party lines, 6-3, to overturn the school mask mandate. Explosive cheering and chants of "U.S.A., U.S.A." from the crowd. Story to come.
- Replying to @MamaSissieSays and @lachic288I’m no Boebert fan by any stretch of the imagination. But I’m not a fan of using divorce as a political weapon. And I really don’t like making a 17-year-old a political issue is well. If you hate the right using personal attacks, then don’t do the same. Just saying.
- I'm sorry. I don't care about the issue or whether the group leans left or right. Private homes should be off limits. That said, I have zero patience or tolerance with these selfish anti-maskers.RIGHT NOW: Crowd gathered in protest of COVID-19 health orders outside the governor's home in Orem. (Photos: @nictnaylor)
- I'm unimpressed with Utah State Government response to CoVID. @SpencerJCox exempting state offices and employees from Salt Lake County mask mandate is the latest example. We are in a crisis. Lines to get tested are hours long. You can't buy a home test anywhere.
- I find it more than a little troubling that at a time when we know there isn’t enough water to save the Great Salt Lake, we are celebrating a new chip plant that needs massive amounts of water to operate. That plant is in the Great Salt Lake watershed. Gov. Cox glossed over this.
- I can't believe Utah politicians think the state is doing a good job managing Covid. With the possible exceptions of Salt Lake City and County, the response is terrible. Our politicians are doing virtually nothing. It's embarrassing.
- Kind of amazed at the number of folks in my timeline who have convinced themselves that the Duke volleyball player just made up her story.
- Thinking about the fine reporters who were laid off at KSL this week. Wondering about a business model that eliminates its best people and expects the public not to notice.
