- For a bit of happiness here, my stepdad started courting my mom after both losing spouses of 50 years in agonizing ways. Now my phone pings at random times with pictures of 2 older folks being happy in places near and far.
- Replying to @MiscSusanI’d ask in genuine interest, “oh so we use last names here?” And see where that goes.
- My nearly 80 yo mom just dropped some ancient wisdom: “don’t waste any time worrying how bad you look in pictures now, in a couple years, you’ll wish you still looked that good.”

- On 9/11/01 I was helping with a complex case that took all day while the events unfolded. People kept running in and out of the room and the surgeon finally said, “We’re all a mess, the world is a mess, right now we have to save this one person.” I think about about that a lot.
