    Many students have reached out to me in light of Liz Truss’ remarks about Jewish values including ‘setting up a business’ and ‘taking steps to protect the family unit’ and her warning of ‘creeping antisemitism and wokeism’. 1/

    Today I have regretfully resigned my membership of @UKLabour. My Jewish values led me to join the Labour Party, and now my being Jewish leaves me no choice but to resign @HuffPost

    As UJS Sabs, we have spent hours educating SUs and university officials about antisemitic tropes. Her comments about setting up a business being a Jewish value constitute an inaccurate and offensive portrayal of the Jewish community. 2/

    Each year at our annual conference Jewish students vote to decide our policy platform. They table motions on the issues that matter to them. Motions on tackling discrimination and protecting LGBT+ communities have passed with large majorities. 3/

    I spoke to @BBCLondonNews about my resignation from @UKLabour. Through inability to stand for the very principles it was founded on, the Labour Party isn’t just letting down Jewish people, but all British people. @vellstells @UJS_UK
