Aftershock II has officially become the highest and fastest amateur rocket of all time! Following its successful launch to space on Oct. 20, 2024, an internal data review concluded a world-record altitude of 470,400 ft and a top speed of 5,283 ft/s (Mach 5.5).

Unfortunately, Earthshakiier failed shortly into firing. Next, we will begin an all-hands anomaly investigation to determine the root-cause and come back with an even better design. Stay tuned for what's next to come!

We are pleased to announce a paper about a new system we developed: the Lightspeed Rangefinder. Using radio, this system can track high-power rockets under conditions where existing GPS units and altimeters cannot. Check out our avionics lead's writeup: engrxiv.org/ypmvc/
