Pavements should be for people, not cars. It's time to introduce a ban on pavement parking across the UK. #DisabledCitizensInquiry
Quote : Fundamentally, the thing that is so frustrating about pavement parking is the assumption that it is more acceptable to block the footway than it is to block the road - which clearly shouldn't be the case. - Stakeholder workshop participant.

Traffic is spoiling where we live, so why is @RishiSunak going out of his way to clog our roads with cars?🤦‍♀️ These changes would serve no one - not pedestrians, not cyclists, not users of public transport & not even drivers, who will face more congestion👇

"Pavement parking is basically me ending up in the middle of the road." 💬 Vehicles parked on pavements can make everyday journeys challenging and even dangerous for many people. It's time for change. We're calling for a ban on #PavementParking across the UK 👇

Car traffic is bad for our health, our planet, and our communities. While electric vehicles have a role to play in reducing transport emissions, they don't solve current issues of congestion and road safety. Our roads don't just need cleaner cars, they need fewer cars 📉

Two-thirds of adults in England feel that it is too dangerous for them to cycle on roads. It shouldn't be this way. Action to improve road safety must be a priority, including investment in separated cycling infrastructure and lower speed limits in built-up areas. #RoadSafetyWeek

It's been over two years since the Government consulted on #PavementParking, and still no action has been taken. We need a ban on pavement parking now.👇

⚠ The active travel budget has just been cut by two-thirds ⚠ It’s heartbreaking to see vital active travel budgets being wiped away in England, at the exact time when they are most essential. It simply doesn’t make sense.👇

"Removing barriers will lead to an increase of illegal use and antisocial behaviour."💬 This is one of the most common concerns we get when removing restrictive barriers on the National Cycle Network. But did you know removing barriers can actually have the opposite effect? 👇🧵

Parking on the pavement should be the exception, but has become the norm in many places, forcing vulnerable people into the road.🚗 We're calling for a ban on #PavementParking across the UK👇

Today is #WorldBicycleDay. An affordable, healthy and sustainable means of transportation, the bicycle has been the best solution for #NHS staff and other key workers to move around towns and cities amid #Covid19 pandemic. Here’s to cycles of all shapes and sizes!

Pavements should be for people, not cars. ⚠ Our Head of Policy, Tim Burns, explains why a ban on pavement parking is critical to improve safety for everyone👇 sustrans.org.uk/our-blog/news/…
Quote from Tim Burns, Head of Policy at Sustrans "In many places it is seen as more socially acceptable to park on the pavement and block people walking and wheeling thant to park in the road and potentially slow traffic."
