2/8 Based on deep reverse-engineering of TikTok’s recommendation system and representative data (real & synthetic users), we built an AI model that measures when videos get more exposure than they should. We call these “Excessive Publicity” videos.

7/8 When normalizing within politics (already 55 % promoted), **pro-Mamdani** and **anti-Cuomo** videos were boosted *above* the baseline, while **pro-Cuomo** content was *suppressed below* it. That’s not just bias. It’s **algorithmic steering.**

3/8 Across all videos, about 17 % show this kind of non-organic boost. When we tested on known paid ads, our model correctly flagged 76.4 % - confirming it works. In short: it spots hidden promotion. ⚙️📈

You’re touching exactly the right point. The story isn’t about whether the exposure is “correct” or not . it’s about whether content from one side, that gets the same level of interaction (views, likes, shares, etc.) as content from the other side, is actually being delivered to
