UPDATE: I sent my first PhD application on October 30th. 21 applications, and 6 stressful months later, I've decided to join @MPI_EvolBio for my PhD. I will soon graduate with a BS-MS (in Physics!) from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

nine years ago, I went on a walk with a school boy who wanted to chat about becoming a scientist. today @_chanrt_ accepted a PhD position in EvolBio at a Max Planck Institute 👏👏

The missiles and the interceptors have the same velocity and travel time, so they travel the same distance. The missiles are launched from points on a line whereas the interceptors are launched from a point. Locus of point with same distance from a point and a line is a parabola

My skin came in contact with dog saliva in December 2023, while in a region endemic with rabies. The doctor(s) agreed to prescribe rabies shots even if the risk was very low (since dying by rabies is worse). Everything was free. Otherwise, I would've hesitated getting the shots

This is how messed up US healthcare is. Someone I know had to get rabies shots. A total of 4 shots. The hospital billed $30,000. His insurance paid $24K and he had to pay the rest $6K out of pocket.

Terrible news. Overwhelming majority of students in IISc, and many students in IISERs, got admission via KVPY. This exam was better at selecting research-oriented students. JEE and NEET can absolutely NOT perform that role. Hope IISc n IISERs together figure a better alternative.
