If you want to destroy a city, the United States Air Force is faster, but the American Planning Association is far more effective.

We used to build homes with soul. Now we build garages with sleeping quarters. 1920 > 2020. We are doing it wrong.

In my opinion, more than 75% of every urban planning, architecture, and landscape architecture program today should focus on โ€œSPRAWL REPAIRโ€. The work is endless. And virtually nobody is teaching it.

Would it really be so bad if this happened in the typical American suburb? I don't think so.

For the most part, Colleges are the only place where walkable urbanism exists and was never made illegal.

A big reason so many Americans miss college is because it's the only time they've ever lived in a walkable community. That doesn't have to be the case. At Culdesac, we're showing that building walkable neighborhoods is possible in the U.S. again.

A large part of Montana's winning housing strategy... *Make it easier to build here, to protect there.* Save the woodlands and save the farmland by making it easier to build infill housing.

Our design for a master plan for a new classical boarding school in New England. The school would begin with a multipurpose admin, classroom and dorm building, which over time would be replaced by new dorms, classroom buildings and a chapel. bootsmadesign.com/projects/educaโ€ฆ

HOT TAKE: Yes, the Interstate System should have been built. No, those freeways should not have been built anywhere inside of already-existing American cities.

Fun fact: If NYC were subjected to the parking requirements regularly recommended by American planners, it would take the entire island of Manhattan to park just the office space of Midtown Manhattan.
