We were honoured to welcome Her Majesty The Queen Consort to our Science Teaching Hub today, to mark her 10th year as University Chancellor. Her Majesty met with students, staff & local schoolchildren during her tour of the facility, which opened last year bit.ly/3IV1R6n

The votes have been counted and students have elected their new Rector – an ancient post dating back to the foundation of the University in 1495, Scottish folk singer Iona Fyfe will start a 3 year term as the new Rector from 1 January 2025. Read more here: abdn.ac.uk/news/23812/

1/ The University of Aberdeen is to return a Benin bronze, the first-ever fully repatriated to Nigeria by a museum. The University announced it would return the sculpture more than 125 years after it was looted by British forces.

Today our medical students will graduate 2 months early so they can volunteer to help the NHS with the coronavirus effort. We can't have a traditional ceremony but that doesn't mean we can't do something to mark the occasion... #wearetogether #ABDNFamily #covid19 🎓 👏 🎉

So sad to hear of the passing of footballing legend Denis Law. A fantastic ambassador for his home city and its young people, the University was delighted to award him an honorary degree in 2005 and a special award for his Legacy Trust in 2020.
