    The Israeli cabinet just approved two critical proposals: an NIS 30 billion ($9.3 billion) plan to support Arab communities in health, education, and many other fields over 5 years. The second is an NIS 2.4 billion ($748 million) proposal to fight the crime wave in Arab cities.

    The Palestinian Red Crescent reports 163 wounded tonight across Jerusalem in clashes with Israeli security forces. 83 were hospitalized, mostly for injuries with rubber-coated steel bullets, the Red Crescent says.

    I imagine that the brazen lawlessness by some Jewish extremists last night as they attacked Arabs within the Green Line must be connected to the near-total impunity they have enjoyed beyond it in years of attacks by extreme settlers on Palestinian towns and people.

    For years, Palestinian citizens of Israel have demanded serious government action to uproot organized crime from their cities. But gangs were left to arm themselves and grow stronger. The ethnically motivated violence in Lod and Ramle builds on that reality.

    A troubling fact that I did not know until this afternoon: the Iron Dome defense system treats Bedouin unrecognized townships as "open areas," meaning they are far more vulnerable to rocket fire. At least 80-90,000 Bedouins live in unrecognized villages in southern Israel.

    7 months after PA President Abbas indefinitely delayed Palestinian elections, the Palestinian leader inaugurates brand new Central Elections Committee HQ. The European Union invested 6 million euros in the project. The Palestinians have not held a national vote in 15 years.

    2,000 Russian vaccines to reach Gaza tomorrow, Hamas health official Majdi Dahir tells al-Aqsa TV. Israeli official: The PA submitted a request to allow vaccines to enter Gaza, but we've not yet approved it. Vaccines are from 10,000-dose shipment to the PA in early February
