I was taking photos of some celebrations among Syrians about Assad's downfall, only to be approached by some European delivery man who told me: "But you realise the leader of the main rebel faction was CIA-trained, right?" He could not even name this faction, however...

The Islamic State’s attempted genocide of Yezidis attracted global media attention and was also a trigger for the wider military intervention against the group in Iraq and Syria. People did not go on marches to protest against that intervention, dimwit.

Nonsense, but not surprised Israeli pundits promote it given how terrible Israeli media coverage of Syria is. I know many people in the village of Hadr and they all stand by the statement issued by Hadr's notables declaring rejection of secession & their desire to remain in Syria

The Druze of southern Syria have publicly declared their desire to secede from Syria and be annexed to Israel. Based on topography this is what the annexation would look like. The IDF has already taken over the DMZ in yellow and moved into some of the Druze towns. Thread.

Really is clear that the SDF is trying to get an 'Iraq Kurdistan region' style arrangement in Syria where the SDF is nominally part of the Syrian armed forces and gets financing from Damascus but has independent command chain etc.

Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham cut its ties with al-Qa'ida and screwed over the al-Qa'ida-loyalist group Hurras al-Din, such that the latter has no appreciable role in the current offensive. Also, the U.S. ended its program of support for the insurgent groups years ago.
