    Interesting test for the Commons Speaker early in this Parliament. Hoyle has long been clear: government should not make “announcements to the media” before the House. So let’s see how he deals with the fate of the Chagos Islands being fed to the press, rather than the House.

    Paying for my child’s breakfast seems to be part of the role of parenthood to me. I don’t look at the toast or cereal and think “well that’s me out of pocket”

    Parents shouldn’t be out of pocket by setting their children up for school. That’s why we are rolling out free breakfast clubs and from next September, schools will be required to limit branded items of uniform. Saving families £500 and giving kids the best start in life.
