Someone at my mom’s workplace who has COVID and was on a ventilator for more than a week up until earlier today joined a Zoom meeting from the ICU because her boss told her she needed to start working remotely as soon as she was off the ventilator?? Capitalism is a death cult!

every time i see healthcare providers making jokes about “patients who have too much medical knowledge and diagnose themselves with rare diseases,” i think of two different patients in a clinic where i used to work. each of them were convinced they had rare autoimmune diseases.

A guy in a support group for a neurological condition I have said he’s extremely depressed bc he had to quit being a surgeon and go on disability. A med student in the group replied, “you’re not trying hard enough. I’m doing fine in med school w/no accommodations. Exercise helps”

my nurse is literally wearing a shirt that says, “assaulting a healthcare worker is a felony. try me, and i will have you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” i’m a HCW who has been assaulted too but it makes me nervous to see a nurse in a “try me, i’ll arrest you” shirt

each of them finally found doctors who would prescribe them immune suppressants. both turned out to be right about their diagnoses and went into remission after finding the right immune suppressants.

i follow her. she was a dance teacher who had two strokes and her immune system attacked her eye to the point that she needed brain surgery and now gets chemo & radiation to keep the inflammation from spreading to her brain. she was sent home with “anxiety” after her first stroke

very embarrassing, but my neighbor heard me outside crying on the phone with a crisis hotline yesterday. he said, “hold on, let me go bake you something. i just need to ask my wife for the recipe.” and then he & his wife made me brownies and brought them over. 🥹😭
