The cousin could use ChatGPT to create a Python script that could automate much of this 😂 There are only 100 permutations here (10^2), so it's not that bad.

0/ Remote work isn't exceptional as companies that are spread around multiple offices have done it for the last many years. The special sauce is communicating asynchronously as the default 💡 Here's a thread about why.

0/ 🧵 At Doist, we have for 10+ years competed against Google, Microsoft, and Apple in the hyper-competitive market of todo apps. Some thoughts follow on how you can compete against trillion-dollar Goliaths. I'll start with examples, and end with core principles.

Todoist has made more than $100 million in total revenue, which isn't very interesting because many others have reached this number. What's interesting is that we did it in our unique way: — Fully bootstrapped. Customers have supported us since the beginning, and we've used only

I am teaching my 5y old to play Age of Empires II — one of the best games ever made. He can already build villagers, gather resources, and build and control an army 😊 Still a long way to go tho’!

$433M money raised, and a $5.6bn valuation happened. Postman needs to do a lot more than request inspection to justify this. For these numbers to make any sense, they would need to do $1bn+ in ARR for a freaking API client utility... Looking around, there are so many companies

In the last decade: — I never pulled an all-nighter — I never work weekends — Most weeks, I work <= 40 hours — I did 40 vacation days per year Still my company is doing great, empowering millions. You don’t need to burn your life away to be a founder or to create great things.

The biggest problem with Notion isn’t the service itself but its success criteria. They have raised $343M on a $10bn valuation. The only way they will be successful is to have over $1bn in ARR. They are probably below $100M now. The pressure to deliver this is probably why they

The likelihood of building a company that generates over $1 million per year is 4% and over $10 million it's 0.4%. If you want to create a company, expect it to be hard and assume that it does not become easier as you go. Source: Scaling Up

Async communication is a simple concept: you send a message without expecting an immediate response. The surprising thing is the side-effects of async if you make it the default communication. Here are some core learnings we've done at Doist in the last 8 years 🧵

In 2019, we received 9,249 applications across all our openings and added 9 people to our team (or 0.1%). There is a lot of demand for remote jobs, but not enough supply. The bottom line is we need more remote companies, especially remote-first.

The team is making incredible progress on Todoist Boards 🥳 We've done this without making Todoist more complicated, and coming to this stage has taken us years of foundational work. Soon, Trello is becoming a feature 😅 PS: We might start beta testing this in a few weeks!
